Finland celebrates its National Day at Astana Expo 2017 on 20th of June in honor of the centenary of Finland’s independence. The program of the day starts in the morning as Finnish music talents fill the air with tunes varying from classical melodies to pop rhythms. Tango dancers will deliver visual wow-effects while magician leads the audience to the world of mystic secrets. Later in the Finnish Pavilion, expo visitors will meet the one and only Santa Claus (Joulupukki), who arrives from Lapland to Astana.

One of the music stars giving her performance on the National Day is Saara Aalto - the enchanting Finnish singer, songwriter and voice actress, who placed second in UK`s X-Factor 2016 and is the voice of Princess Anna in the Finnish version of Disney's animated movie Frozen. Saara’s amazing shows and incomparable stage presence have made the audience adore her – and no wonder. We are excited to share with you that there will be even more girl power on the stage – Astana, are you ready for Diandra?

Diandra has established her place as one of the most popular pop singers in Finland! Diandra’s strong voice and undeniable charisma propelled the singer into the headlights in 2012, when she won the Idols song contest. After that, this pop-idol has proved she can hit the notes in various music style: thanks to background in classical music and years of training, Diandra keeps surprising audience with her versatility.

Since this spring, Diandra has also been campaigning towards school bullying with the President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö and Finnish pop-singer Robin Packalen. The goal of the ”support group” is to raise awareness of school bullying and encourage everyone to take initiatives to make the bullying stop!

Independent Finland celebrates its centenary in 2017!

On 20th of June 2017, Finland will have its National Day from 10 to 17 at the Astana Expo Stage. The National Day of Finland Celebration will demonstrate the best examples of Finnish culture of 100 years old Finland. During the National Day, you will get acquainted with the culture of Finland, a land with clean nature and pure energy, with the most famous man in Finland, Joulupukki - Santa Claus from Lapland, and great music and following great performers:

Santa Claus, Joulupukki

Everyone knows that Santa – the one and only – comes from Finland. Although the exact location of his private home in Korvatunturi, Lapland, is unknown, his official home town is Rovaniemi.

Santa Claus may only visit children in their homes once a year, but he is also delighted to welcome you into Finnish stand in Expo Astana.


Lenni Kalle Taipale and Sami Pitkänen Jazz House Band

Finnish classic musicians are word famous. Lenni-Kalle Taipale is a high level jazz & all-around pianist, a professional – the best in Finland. Together with Sami Pitkänen, an excellent singer with every possible styles from “Dancing with the Stars” to songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.”, the House Band will guarantee great music with great performers during the whole day.

Saara Aalto

Saara Aalto is a Finnish singer-songwriter who came second in the X Factor UK in 2016 and is now taking over the world with her music. Saara has performed with world famous stars like Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras.


Diandra is one of Finland's most brilliant young artists. Already at the age of three, she started playing violin and at the age of 17, she won Finnish Idols Song competition.

Diandra has performed as a soloist of countless top orchestras in Finland and abroad.

Teemu Roivainen - the King of Tango

Teemu Roivainen is a Finnish singer who became known and loved by the public audience after winning a highly popular Tango competition, in which the winner is crowned the King of Tango. Roivainen has worked with music his whole life both as a musician and as a producer, but is now focusing on his career as a singer and doing an impressive number of concerts.


Tango Dancers: Sami and Jutta Helenius

Sami and Jutta Helenius are the Finnish Champions in professional ballroom dances. Their charisma and elegance has been charming Finnish people as they have participated the Dancing with the Stars TV-show many times.


Milo & Moses / Jazz Band

Being the youngest Finnish Jazz ensemble having ever made a record, stylistically Milo & Moses represents groove jazz. Milo & Moses is a group founded by two junior high school students Milo Mäkelä (electric guitar) and Moses Kuloniemi (drums), both 15 years old today. Double bass is played by 18-year-old Jon Pettersson. 


Joni Pakanen – Magician


Joni Pakanen is a professional Finnish magician with comedy magic solo acts. This multi award-winning master of close up tricks and grand illusions is guaranteed to amaze any audience with his unique brand of magic with an edge. Get ready to be entertained!
