Cultural programs for the Czech pavilion at the EXPO 2017 Astana
The basic ideological concept
Cultural programs for the exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana are designed to present the Czech Republic as a country proud of its traditions and folklore and also in keeping with the theme of national participation "Ingenuity of the implementation."
The project team
The creative team uses experiences from dozens of international events and productions, including two world exhibition EXPO. We realize that EXPO is not a cultural festival, but we need to balance cultural, marketing and purely entertaining form of accompanying programs. The ability to improvise in relation to current events in the exhibition is a must. Accompanying programs are provided in collaboration with Artprom, Ltd.

Jiří Suchánek is an experienced manager of international projects. Among other things, he worked from 2008 - 2010 as a production manager Czech Republic's pavilion at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. He participated in the organization of days Pilsen Region at EXPO 2015 Milano. In the years 2011 - 2013 he worked as director of the second largest corporate foundation in the Czech Republic - OKD Foundation.
In 2013 he took over as crisis manager project Pilsen - European Capital of Culture 2015 and in the position of the CEO he brought this project to a successful implementation. In terms of tourism, it is one of the most successful projects of the European Capital of Culture in more than thirty-year history.
He currently holds the position of director of creative zone DEPO2015, which is one of the sustainable project outcomes Pilsen 2015
Screenplay, director and head of production:: Jakub Vedral, executive ArtProm s.r.o.
Jakub Vedral is executive of Artprom Ltd. Company and chairman of the civic association ART Prometheus. He graduated from the Theater Faculty of AMU in the field of theatrical production. He is a producer of theater Divadlo Continuo, Teatr Novogo Fronta (CZ / RU), Décalages - theater en mouvement (EN / FR) Amanitas Fire Theater, V.O.S.A. Theater, Brothers in T-shirts or Long Vehicle Circus. He exclusively represents the Japanese puppeteer Nori Sawu For Europe, he represents Teatr Prowisorium Kompania Teatr (PL), Teatr Biuro Podróży (PL) Scena Plastyczna KUL (PL), Jeane Mordoj (FR) and Teatr Akhe (RU) for the Czech Republic.
He directed the opening ceremony of the 2011 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships in Kosice. He was responsible for the theatrical presentation of the Czech pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai , at the EXPO 2015 in Milan and EXPO 2016 in Antalya. At the end of March 2014 he implemented a theatrical accompanying program at Grand Prix Formula 1 in Bahrain. In September 2015 he organized the project of the giant puppets in Pilsen, which for three days was visited by nearly 100,000 people.
Artists within the cultural programs
The concept of the Czech National Day is based, as well as the whole concept of social events, on connecting the Czech and Moravian folk music with skill and creativity.
Czech National Day will kick off at 15:00 in the amphitheater. We expect the following program elements:
- Speeches of top representatives of the Czech and Kazakh sides, raising a flag
- Short composed program consisting of Moravian and Czech folklore
- Parade composed od musicians, acrobats, dancers lead the delegation through the rest of the program Czech National Day (tour of the pavilion of the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, the press conference ...)
- The evening will culminate with a gala reception on the grounds of the pavilion of the Czech Republic (restaurant) accompanied by the sounds of the Moravian dulcimer music
Within the Czech National Day and other days of the accompanying program will feature:
Kryštof Neduchal´s brass band, composed of members of the brass band Mistříňanka, which represents the top of the Moravian brass band. Presents a set of 10 musicians who will play both on stage and in motion.
Folklore dances performed by dancers from the Ethnographic ensemble Dubňany of Dubrava. These are a collection of folk songs and dances of Moravian Slovakia in the region Kyjovské Dolňácko, specifically southern Kyjovsko. The ensemble was founded in 1978.
Acrobats on „high legs“– Long Vehicle Circus
Acrobats on „high legs“ will be presented in a specially sewn costumes that harmonizes with the present folklore and national colors. They carry the flag of the Czech Republic and o draw visitors into the story.
Long Vehicle Circus is a European leader in its category. Acrobats are (apart from classical walk) able to perform stunts such as somersaults, tumbling. Because of its height they are hard to miss.
Bagpipers from Strakonice
The southern part of Bohemia is famous for its bagpipe tradition. The epicenter is in Strakonice. The bagpipers will perform their show during the Czech National Day and during other accompanying programs.
Kazakhs are a nation who is very proud of their traditions, and therefore we consider just right show with the same pride to the best of our own folklore. Dulcimer music is the essence of good humor and energy that invites you to dance. At the EXPO2017 will perform folk music from Kyjov under the guidance of Michael Strycek.
