National Day of Germany – Cultural Program

During the week in which the Day of Germany will be celebrated on July 12, Cliff Barnes & The Fear Of Winning will give a number of concerts. The particularity of the group’s concerts is that the musicians themselves generate the electricity necessary for their electric musical instruments by virtue of specially modified bicycles. Thus, the audience may see live how long one must ride a bike to generate enough energy for a concert or DJ set. So, night parties will turn into an interesting interactive project involving both the artists and audience. Besides, it will stress the ecological focus of the Pavilion of Germany.


Meute

In conclusion of the official part of the Day of Germany, guests will walk through the Exhibition area to the Pavilion of Germany accompanied by Meute Orchestra consisting of eleven musicians. This orchestra from Hamburg makes original orchestrations of famous DJs tracks in techno, house and deep-house styles transmitting electronic beat by brass instruments. Meute achieved a break-through in the spring of 2016 when their video clip on the Rej song from the French project Âme got widely spread out in social networks and became a real hit.


DieLochis

On July 11 in Astana, the German comedy duet DieLochis will perform – stars of German YouTube. 18 years old twins Heiko and Roman Lochmann have been running their own YouTube channel since 2011, and now the channel counts over 2.3 million subscribers. The tracks by the young performers have been regularly entering charts since 2013. In 2015, they enjoyed their first cinema success: in their debut film “Bruder vom Luder”, they not only played the major parts but also directed it.


Munique

On July 11, a concert of the Munique Group from Munich will be given; each performance of the group is filled with drive and bears high spirits. The group consists of two singers: Vanessa Ekpenyong and Tommy Reeve, internationally renowned studio musicians; and is distinguished by diverse repertoire including such lines as soul, R&B, funk, rock and pop music. Besides, the Munique are famous for their captivating shows.


Joja Wendt and Children’s Choir from PASCH School in Astana

Under the official program of the Day of Germany in the first half of July 12, jazz pianist Joja Wendt will appear. The native of Hamburg has gained worldwide fame by his virtuous playing the piano, and he regularly gathers full halls all over the world. He will perform together with the children’s choir of the PASCH School in Astana (“Schools: Partners for the Future”): the project unites over 1,800 all over the world, and German language is given special attention there.

On July 12 in conclusion of the Day of Germany official part, at the Pavilion of Germany, delegations’ members will be greeted by the Brass Ensemble of Bavarian Brass Music Association. On the next day, July 13, in the Exhibition Complex area, another performance of the Brass Ensemble of Bavarian Brass Music Association will take place.

On July 15 and 16, the World Exhibition will be visited by the Videodays Festival dedicated to such topics as social networks and YouTube. One of the most popular video bloggers and a gamer AlexiBexi will invite the Exhibition guests to immerse themselves into game reality and fight in battles.


Film on Track: Max Hattler Retrospective by Visual Music Award

On Friday July 14, the German Pavilion and Visual Music Award (VMA) will presen an hour-long retrospective of Max Hattler’s work at EXPO-2017 in Astana. Max Hattler is a worldwide renowned media artist working with abstract animation, video installations and audio-video products to investigate interrelations between sound, music and visual elements. Max Hattler graduated from the Royal College of Arts and was awarded a doctor degree in fine arts at the East London University. His projects have been presented worldwide, such as Animamix Biennale Hong Kong, MoCA Taipei, Filmfest Dresden and Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb; he was awarded at Third Culture Festival, Bradford Animation Festival and Visual Music Award.
