The Kazakhstani delegation attended the Meeting of International Participants (IPM) on the EXPO-2020 Dubai Exhibition.
Three years are left till opening of the EXPO-2020 World Exhibition to be held in the largest city of the United Arab Emirates – Dubai – since October 20, 2020, till April 10, 2021.
On October 19 – 20, the EXPO-2020 Organizers gathered delegates from 180 countries to discuss the progress of preparation for the event. The Kazakhstani delegation was headed by Astana EXPO-2017 National Company Chairman of Board Akhmetzhan Yessimov.
“For Kazakhstan, participation in the EXPO-2020 Exhibition means not only an opportunity to present our achievements but also another way for development of bilateral relations between two our countries. The theme of Dubai EXPO-2020 “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” is very close to the theme of our Astana EXPO-2017 Exhibition “Future Energy”. We hope that the innovational developments and ideas presented in Astana find their development at EXPO-2020,” said Akhmetzhan Yessimov in the course of bilateral meetings.
Under implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Astana EXPO-2017 National Company and Dubai EXPO-2020 Bureau signed in the period of EXPO-2017 hosting, officers of Dubai EXPO-2020 Bureau visited Astana for many times.
“We are grateful to Astana EXPO-2017 for the experience we received. The Dubai EXPO-2020 Organizational Committee had a fabulous opportunity to see in reality all the stages of organization and hosting of EXPO since the very start to the very end. Officers of our departments studied the issues of security and safety ensuring, operational management and IT systems provision, and many other things. This experience will assist us in successful implementation of our project,” marked the UAE State Minister for International Cooperation, Director General of EXPO-2020 DUBAI Bureau Ms. Reem Ibrahim Al-Hashimi.
Deputy Secretary General of the International Exhibition Bureau Dimitri Kerkentzes marked: “The Dubai EXPO-2020 Exhibition suggests the international community to discuss a considerably large theme. Certainly, the theme of sustainable development of the planet will receive its continuation, and in particular in the field of alternative energy. It is this which confirms the consistency and significance of the EXPO themes. The international participants who presented their inventions in Astana have an opportunity to develop this theme in Dubai at EXPO-2020”.
Under the IPM, a number of panel discussions were held by the EXPO-202 participant countries, sponsors’ representatives and Exhibition partners, and also winners of the Expo Live Impact Innovation Grant. In the course of the two-day event, the international participants had an opportunity to acquaint themselves with details of preparation of facilities, singularities of the theme and heritage of EXPO-2020, and also visited the Exhibition construction site.
The main Theme of EXPO-2020: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. The International Exhibition, held in the area Middle East, Africa and South Asia for the first time, will be dedicated to interrelationship of the world and progress. The basic ideas of EXPO in Dubai are to be revealed at three thematic pavilions: “Opportunities”, “Mobility” and “Sustainable Development”.
The Dubai EXPO-2020 Exhibitory Complex of the 438 ha total area will be located in Jebel Ali District equidistant from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. After closure, Dubai EXPO-2020 will continue functioning as a research center and university.
The Astana EXPO-2017 heritage also implies preservation of the Exhibition site. At initiative of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev, the ‘Future Energy Museum’ will be established, Astana International Financial Center, International Center for Development of Green Technologies and Investment Projects under the auspices of the UN, and also International Technopark of IT basing on the EXPO-2017 infrastructure.
