The rink occupies the space between the two “fire fountains” being a popular tourist recreation site during the Exhibition. In its form, the ring looks like an arrow directed at the Nur Alem Pavilion. The EXPO logo is planted on the ice with light-reflecting paint. Along the rink perimeter, light strips are located illuminated in the dark time,” said the “Mega Ice’ Company Director Erlan Umbetov.
Due to the special chilling equipment, the rink is capable of operating at up to + 10 C and downwards. It offers the opportunity to prolong the skating season till April, next year. To get perfect high quality ice, ice resurfacers are used.
The Mega Ice Company possesses about 1,000 pairs of new skates of various sizes. They will be lent to anyone willing to skate. For those who stumblingly stand on skates, ice exercisers will be offered. Coaches and instructors will be engaged responsible for order and security on ice. Heated changing rooms exist to change clothes, and also cloak rooms and hot meals.
“The new ice rink will become the favored recreation area of the citizens and guests of the city. It is a possibility to actively spend leisure time in the open,” Mega Ice Director Erlan Umbetov is sure... The admittance ticket cost is democratic and amounts to KZT 1,000.
