The XI-th Astana Economic Forum – Global Challenges Summit - has opened its doors at the EXPO area. AEF program covers such worldwide trends as economic growth and resource stability, digital development and urbanization, longevity and financial revolution, global security and cultural shift.
The number of AEF speakers has reached a record figure of 500; they have arrived at the summit from different countries. The Ex-UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, the ex-President of France, François Hollande, the filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi, the Director of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun, are among the speakers. As usual the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, takes a personal participation in the summit.
Opening the Forum, the Head of State told those present about the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 that had been carried out in Kazakhstan and became a basis for system development of green economy in the country.
“Kazakhstan does not stand apart from this process. Generally, by 2030 we plan to increase the share of alternative energy in our energy balance up to 30%,” – Nursultan Nazarbayev noted.
In the framework of Astana Economic Forum the President of Kazakhstan has invited the participants to visit official presentation of International Financial Center “Astana”.
“It was created on the base of EXPO-2017. Using this opportunity I would like to invite all of you to the official presentation of this center which shall take place on July, 5 this year,” – the Head of State told.
In addition, the RK Prime-Minister, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, has presented at AEF the international Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center which had been also created at the area of EXPO heritage.
“We do hope that being the first technological center in Central Asia it becomes the institutional basis for stable investments, effective mechanism for the new green technologies and innovations from the developed countries to the developing world,’ – he noted.
We remind that the Forum is taking place in the Congress-Center building where plenary meetings and panel sessions shall be conducted during the period from May 17 till May 19. The Congress-Center was constructed specially in order to arrange the large-scale business meetings. It hosted the ceremonies of opening and closing of the Exhibition and presently accommodates the major international events.
